Join the Georgia State University Economics Club

What is the club all about?

The Economics Club at GSU exists to create a way for students with similar interest to get together and enhance their undergraduate education, as well as learn more about how to obtain and be more successful in their careers and/or graduate school after finishing at GSU.

A Typical Year in the Club

Speaker Series
Every semester the Economics Club will be hosting the Speaker Series. We will have one topic per event consisting of a speaker(s) from the private, public, and/or educational sector(s). The Speaker Series will comprise of at least 4 forums per semester to last approximately 1 to 2 hours with a Q&A session. Food and beverages will be provided at selected forums.

Debate Forums
The Economics Club will also be hosting the Debate Forums. The forum allows members to debate issues facing society and the ability to learn different perspectives brought to the table by students with different areas of expertise.

Faculty & Student Mixer
Every Fall Semester we will be hosting a mixer with the Economics Department Faculty. The purpose of the mixer is to provide members with the opportunity to become better acquainted with club officers, members, and the professors who will be teaching our courses. Take the opportunity to ask members about their experiences at GSU to getting professors’ opinions on virtually anything.

Volunteer Services
The club also participates in various volunteer activities throughout the semesters.  This gives the club and its members an opportunity to give back to our communities.

Here are a few Reasons Why You should Join

Internship and Job Opportunities
Being a member of the Economics Club means you get an upper hand on internship/job opportunities by having access to our database. Professors, local businesses, and government offices will be submitting opportunities as they become available throughout the year. Access to this database is a valuable tool in order to increase your competitive edge before and/or after you graduate.

Networking
The ability to have a venue in which to communicate with others interested in the same field is beneficial to all participants. Becoming familiar with each other’s niche will allow members to further assist one another by passing along any pertinent information that would further develop another’s individual career path.

Social Gathering
We will have designated days to meet at the Atlanta Brewing Company for happy hour, attend a Braves, Thrashers, Falcons, or Hawks game at a discounted rate, and times to play in the sun (Frisbee, football, soccer, rafting, etc.) Expect to make new friendships that will last for years to come.

Tutors
We will be compiling a list of individuals who are interested in volunteering time towards the tutoring of a specific course. Additionally, we will be creating a medium in which to schedule study groups in a simple manner.

Who can join?
