The Georgia Water Planning and Policy Center comprises
a three-university consortium of Georgia State,
Albany State, and Georgia Southern universities.
The consortium provides the institutional framework
and academic expertise to proactively address the
state’s water policy issues on a regional
basis. Through the involvement of local stakeholders,
policy advisory |

and regional universities, local citizens affected
by evolving water polices help prioritize research
efforts to best address their regional water issues
and needs. The program stresses the use of applied
policy sciences through engaging the expertise of
faculty from various disciplines in law, economics,
public policy & administration, and related
decision sciences. |

consortium’s centers include |

Together the centers form an objective statewide institution
of water resource think tanks that help the General
Assembly and the Congressional Delegation understand
how water quantity and quality is affected by alternative
incentive systems, alternative political institutions,
and alternative legal systems. The centers assist in
the formulation of policy designs that best serve policymakers
goals for sustainable economic growth and natural resource
conservation for the State’s water planning, research,
