John R. Stowe has an M.S. in Biology/Ecology from Florida State University and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from GSU. He began his teaching career at Kennesaw State College, where he taught biology and ecology. He began teaching at Georgia State in 2004 and has taught courses in the Intensive English Program as well ESL credit-bearing classes for undergraduate and graduate students. In summer 2005, John was an instructor at Tsinghua University's Intensive English Camp in Beijing. In addition to university teaching positions, John also worked for years in the field of wellness and personal empowerment, during which he maintained a personal therapeutic practice, taught seminars in the U.S. and abroad, and published several books in the field. His main research interests are intercultural communication, second language writing, and ESL listening and speaking.
