Sentence Correction is a subcategory of Sentence, Clause, Phrase Manipulation in which respondents must identify mistakes in the sentences provided and correct the given form (e.g., identifying mistakes in sentences and rewriting the sentences correctly.).


ACTIVITIES:

1. As in the example, each of the following sentences has a mistake in its verb form. Edit each sentence by (1) finding the error and (2) making the correction as in the example.

EXAMPLE: Fahid is going to a football game tonight.

5. All of the following sentences contain mistakes. There are mistakes in punctuation, deletion, prepositions, and fragments. Correct the sentences; punctuate them carefully.

1. Once familiar with the names of phobias they are all derived from Greek.

2. A person with a phobia recognizes that it is irrational. Although he is unaware of the subconscious conflicts that cause it.

3. What a person achieves through his phobia is to confine his deeper anxiety to a specific situation such that he can avoid both this situation and his anxiety.

4. Sometimes a person may not have the incentive to be cured of his phobia. Because he may be gaining extra attention and concern from friends and family.

5. Because of all young children have a fear of the dark and of sudden noises it has been recognized that some fears are innate.

6. Some think phobic fears are the residue of the experiences of our distant ancestors. Because in order to survive they had to fear open spaces, animals, fire, and heights.
