When we started this project, we
had the following purposes--both of which we still believe in:
The purpose of the Journal of English Grammar on the Web (JEGW) is to provide a forum for the publication of previously unpublished research articles and book reviews relating to grammar theory and pedagogy. The JEGW has two missions: first, we are committed to the facilitation of professional development in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language; second, we are dedicated to aiding both teachers and students of ESL in the application of grammar theory both in and out of the classroom. JEGW is edited and managed by members of the Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL at Georgia State University. As such, published material may have a slant toward University level ESL and English for Academic Purposes. However, we found that we did not have the time to carry out our dreams and ambitions for this journal. Thus, the first issue will remain the only issues.Using the World Wide Web as our means of publication allows us to make papers accessible to a large number of readers, and provides us with a medium for dialog on issues in the field as well as immediate reader response. The editors of the JEGW encourage our colleagues to take advantage of the flexibility the Web allows us and respond to what they have read here using the links provided.
