John Stowe earned an M.S. in Biology/Ecology from Florida State University and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from GSU. His teaching career began at Kennesaw State College, where he taught biology and ecology. In 2003, he began teaching ESL in Georgia State’s Intensive English Program and later in the ESL Credit Program. While at GSU, John also worked with several special programs from China and Mexico. In addition to university teaching positions, John worked for years in the field of wellness and personal empowerment, during which he maintained a personal therapeutic practice, taught seminars in the U.S. and abroad, and published several books in the field. John was also a gifted photographer and a lover of nature. A tree-planting ceremony took place in April 2009 in the Native Garden of Hurt Park, across from Alumni Hall on the GSU campus, to honor John’s devotion to nature. John’s love of teaching, learning, laughing, and exploring continue to be an inspiration to many.
