Julian Allen
Manager, Digital Media
Julian Allen has been leading the Digital Media Group for over five
years, specializing in video editing and compression and graphic design.
Julian earned a B.S. in Architecture from Georgia Tech and an M.B.A. from
Georgia State.
Nathan Reetz
Digital Aquarium Coordinator
Nathan Reetz is Coordinator of the Digital Aquarium where he teaches the
latest digital video and multimedia production tools. Before coming to
Georgia State Nathan worked at CNN for three years where he modernized
the production of on-air, animated graphics. Nathan has also worked in
San Francisco as a broadband Internet designer. Nathan graduated with
honors from Ithaca College, New York, with a degree in Cinema Photography
and minors in Corporate Communications and Anthropology. Nathan has been
pioneering digital video since his first film in 1996.
Don Howell
Digital Media Specialist Lead
Before joining Georgia State University in 1995, Don completed
a twenty-year career with IBM. He was a former instructor and supported
IBM’s computer-based instruction system. At Georgia State University,
Don continues to apply his project management and multimedia skills by
performing digital media production, videotaping and multimedia support
for instructional development.
Matthew Munson
Digital Media Specialist
Matthew Munson has been at Georgia State University since he
was three years old. He could be found at preschool, the pool, library,
or the old Lyceum while his mother attended and taught college; or later,
as a student assistant at the student-run television station, GSTV, and
Cinefest Film Theatre; and now a full-time staff member at the Digital
Media Group. Matthew graduated with honors from Georgia State University
in Film and Video with a minor in Photography. He was featured in the
Atlanta Journal & Constitution "People in the Arts" section
for his innovative film programming at Georgia State University's Cinefest
Film Theatre, and one of his music video won the Haiku awards at Athfest
music video festival. Matthew specializes in digital video and develops
a wide range of digital media projects: videos (educational to promotional),
CD-ROM/DVD, and interactive streaming media.
James Poulakos
Digital Media Specialist
James Poulakos studied at Georgia State and, after graduation, hired on as a Secretary
at the Department of English in 1990. On-the-job experience and his fascination
with technology led him to assume the role of that Department's first
computer support person in 1993. In 1998, UETS hired James to train faculty
in digital imagery and video for the Internet. Today he works with UETS's
Digital Media Group, where he develops interactive multimedia, trains
and assists faculty and staff, and offers workshops and demonstration
sessions to classes, by request.
Roy Ford
Digital Media Specialist Associate
Roy Ford comes to UETS from 15 years at Georgia State all within the media
arena, in both audio and video. He has a degree in Legal Studies and Business
Management and completed a program with the Music Business Institute.
Roy has worked with many forms of technology from AT&T switching systems
to concert promotions & productions. He has been both in front of
the camera and behind the camera as well as on stage and behind the stage.
He brings a wealth of media production knowledge and experience as well
as digital experience in video and audio editing and production.
Cassie Wilcox
Multi Media Producer
Cassie specializes in interactive design and development. Prior to joining the Digital Media Group at Georgia State, she gained industry experience working as a graphic designer and multimedia programmer for a web application development company here in Atlanta. Her degrees include a M.S. in Information Design and Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Technical Communication from the University of Central Florida.
Anne Simmons
Multi Media Producer
Anne graduated with honors from American College with a B.S. in Commercial Art with a Concentration in Graphic Design in 1995. Anne began her career at Georgia State in 1997 as a receptionist for IS&T. Later she was hired into the university's TeamWeb group where she assisted in designing and maintaining the various department, college and administrative websites around campus including the main Georgia State website. She also managed the WebStar program. In 2005 Anne transferred to the Digital Media Group to better utilize her talents at multi-media and print design.
