A member of UETS will host. When are these events scheduled? The events will be scheduled from 12:00pm to 12:50pm one day a month TBD. However, if a guest speaker cannot attend at that time and date, the session will be moved for that particular event. The regular schedule might look something like: 12:00pm-12:05pm – everyone logs in The series will begin in fall 2007, but sessions will not be held in May or December. What is vClass?vClass (hosted by Elluminate) is a virtual classroom technology with an intuitive, graphical interface that provides a powerful and easy-to use collaboration environment. It enables participants to talk over the Internet, chat online, and share whiteboards and applications with other participants. <More info> What do I need to participate?Participants will need a computer with an Internet connection and sound. A small application must be downloaded but only once per computer. You will need a microphone if you wish to speak, but you can also ask questions through the chat feature. A headset is recommended, especially if there are others around you. If you are a first time participant, we recommend that you login at least 30 minutes prior to the session to make sure that your connection and sound are working properly. The link to participate will be posted above. How do I learn how to use vClass?A practice room is available 24/7. Newcomers can enter anytime and practice themselves. Step-by-step instructions are available. We recommend the two-page quick reference guides depending on whether you are moderating or participating in the event. You can also request a training session prior to the event. We will come to your office and walk you through downloading the applet (you only have to do it once), testing the talk and speaker capabilities, and logging in. Just email us at vclass@gsu.edu. What if I can’t make a session?Sessions will be archived and links made available on request for later review. What are some upcoming topics (not in any particular order)?Technology for Study Abroad programs If you have a particular topic you would like to discuss please email us at vclass@gsu.edu.
