April 15, 2009 Contact: President Becker to give State of the University addressATLANTA – Georgia State University students, faculty and staff as well as the general public are invited to attend a speech by President Mark Becker at 4 p.m. tomorrow (April 16) in the Student Center Ballroom. Becker, who became GSU’s seventh president in January, will give what is believed to be Georgia State’s first State of the University address. He will discuss the university’s proven ability to adapt and grow to meet the needs and ambitions of Georgia, historically, today and in the future. “Demand for a Georgia State education has never been higher, the students we are recruiting are the best in our history, and the faculty is the strongest ever,” Becker is expected to say. “We will emerge from the storm, headed in the right direction, and with wind in our sails.” What: President Mark Becker’s State of the University address When: 4 p.m. tomorrow (April 16) Where: Student Center Ballroom, corner of Gilmer Street and Piedmont Avenue Who: Students, faculty, staff and members of the general public
