April 30, 2009 Contact: Information on the National Swine Flu OutbreakTo the Georgia State community: As you are most likely aware, the recent Swine Influenza outbreak in Mexico and select U.S. states is still being assessed. Nevertheless, it does provide an opportunity for communication with our community to inform you of our efforts in this regard. We want to assure you that we are prepared. In an effort to solely increase awareness regarding Swine Influenza, the University, through its Emergency Management Group, is in ongoing contact with local, state and federal health agencies and is monitoring this situation very closely. In addition, we are making full use of resources available through the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization in the steps we are taking to safeguard the health of the campus community. As of April 30, 2009, there has been one confirmed case of swine flu in Georgia. The University will continue to monitor this situation very closely and will act with both diligence and speed to address the needs of the University community in the days and weeks ahead.
