June 21, 2007 CONTACT: Vaishnavi recognized for lifetime of contributions to CIS field Computer Information Systems professor Vijay Vaishnavi was recently awarded one of the most coveted prizes in the information design sciences field. Vaishnavi, who has been a faculty member at Georgia State since 1981, was presented with the Information System Design Science Lifetime Achievement Award by the 2nd International Conference on Design Science Research in Information during the conference's May gathering. The award recognizes Vaishnavi "for making significant fundamental contributions in design science research through research, leadership and mentorship." Vaishnavi says that earning the award created "[A] feeling of great satisfaction as well as gratitude to all my students, colleagues and collaborators who have made possible the work being recognized." Vaishnavi's accomplishments include developing and teaching the first doctoral level course devoted exclusively to teaching design science research methods, and authoring the upcoming first book on design science research methods: "Design Science Research Methods and Patterns: Innovating Information and Communication Technology." Vaishnavi's current research interests include information integration and web mining, software development, data structures and algorithms and design research methods.
