Guided Tours

The Welch School Gallery offers guided tours of its current exhibitions led by a Gallery staff member. Tours will introduce the Gallery, exhibition and artist and will include time for questions and discussion. Upon request, tours may be customized to suit specific needs. All tours are free of charge.

Guided tours are available to groups of any size. When you call, please be prepared to tell us:

  1. Name of your school and department or organization/group.
  2. Title or subject of the class (if any).
  3. Number of people attending.
  4. Day of week, calendar date, and time of day you are requesting.
  5. Your name and your affiliation with your class or other group.
  6. Your full mailing address, daytime telephone number, and e-mail address.

Please call 404.413.5230 to reserve your tour. One week advance notice is preferred to ensure a Gallery staff member will be available. Once your tour is scheduled on our calendar, we will send you confirmation via email. For additional information, write to artgallery@gsu.edu.

Internships

College and university students are invited to apply for the Welch School Gallery’s internships, which offer valuable experience in the everyday workings of a university art gallery. Tasks may include coordinating specific exhibitions and assisting with exhibition receptions, assisting with publicity and marketing, updating the Gallery’s website and giving Gallery tours. GSU students will be given preferential consideration for these opportunities. Term and hours are flexible and course credit is available. To apply, please send a current resume accompanied by a statement of interest summarizing past arts-related experience and your plans for the future, along with an explanation of why you would like to intern at the Welch School Gallery. Graduate Assistantship

GSU grad students are invited to apply for the Gallery’s annual Graduate Assistantship. Graduate Assistants will serve as the Gallery Manager. Responsibilities will include assistance with installation and de-installation, minor gallery maintenance, storage room organization, assistance with Gallery events, and coordination of exhibitions. The assistant will work approximately 10 hours per week. For more information, please email the gallery director at artgallery@gsu.edu.

Work-Study Positions

Each year, several GSU students are eligible for work-study assignments in the Gallery office. Their tasks may include coordinating or assisting with special events, creating and distributing promotional materials, updating the Gallery website and other administrative tasks.
