Melissa McLeod designed this portion of the site as a jumping off place for exploring the possibilities of obtaining grants and fellowships. This is not a grant writing page. The information here is geared toward advanced GSU graduate students who have never applied for grants and fellowships before. Perhaps the most daunting part of the process of applying for grants and fellowships is getting started. Where do you find the funding opportunities? When you find a grant you'd like to apply for, what do you do then? Are there resources at GSU to help with this process? The answers to these questions are here!

Furthermore, you will find examples of funding opportunities; these are included to give you an idea of what's out there. There are basic tips and strategies for grant proposals, as well as links to the appropriate GSU resources for grants and fellowships.

Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Georgia State University
This is the office through which faculty may begin the grant-seeking process. The ORSP provides help identifying funding opportunities, gives feedback on grant proposals, and helps with the application process, among other services. Their website also contains a link to the IRIS (Illinois Research Information Service) database. (For more information on IRIS, see the "Funding Opportunities" link on this site.)
Most importantly, their site contains the manual which outlines the application process for grant-seekers required by Georgia State University.
