DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY, GSU
As one of the region's leading geoscience departments, Geology excels in instruction and
research. Department of Geology offers B.S., M.S., and PhD degrees, as well as the Advanced Certificate in Hydrogeology. Students obtain quality instruction and hands-on research experiences in both the laboratory and in the field.

Research and outreach activities are a major focus of the department. Faculty receive nationally competitive research grants from the National Science Foundation, the American
Chemical Society, and other granting organizations, and their scholarship regularly appears in top national and international scientific journals.

Faculty work together with graduate and undergraduate students to achieve these results.
Contacts in regional and national industries, consulting firms, professional geological societies, and state and federal government agencies all combine to create a rich environment for learning and growth for faculty and students.
