Student Life

Gerontology students at Georgia State University have many opportunities to get involved in academic and community life. Gerontology students have opportunities attend and present at the Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference (also see below) as well as the Georgia Gerontological Society, Southern Gerontological Society, and Gerontological Society of American annual scientific meetings. Gerontology students also get involved in and give back to the community through student run organizations, including Adopt-A-Grandparent and Sigma Phi Omega.

Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference

For over two decades, the Southeastern Student Mentoring conference in Gerontology and Geriatrics has provided the only dedicated venue for students and faculty members from across the southeastern United States, all of whom share a passion for gerontology and geriatrics. Each year this conference provides an excellent opportunity to network with students and faculty from other universities who share an interest in gerontology and geriatrics. The Gerontology Institute is a proud sponsor of the conference.
