Advisement
The Gerontology Institute director, the director of graduate studies, and the director of student affairs play key roles in student advisement. The director of student affairs is available to help students understand the expectations and requirements of their graduate programs and to assist in overall program planning and course selection. Although official approval of a course of study is not required, it is strongly recommended that students discuss their registration plans with the director of student affairs or the director of graduate studies. Students should contact the director of student affairs whenever questions arise concerning the program.
The institute director and the director of graduate studies are available to guide students in developing professional goals and directions, but students are encouraged to consult widely with gerontology faculty for advice and to become acquainted with their interests and research.
The director of student affairs regularly informs students of professional events and related activities of the institute as well as career opportunities. She as well as the director and other faculty members are available to assist students with career planning.
