Carol Rowe-Jones, a recent alumna of the gerontology program, and her husband, Waymon Jones, recently established an endowed scholarship to benefit students in the Georgia State University Gerontology Institute. The scholarship will be awarded annually to outstanding students under-represented in the University System of Georgia schools.
Carol enrolled at GSU to study gerontology while completing a degree in human services at Spelman College. She received an undergraduate Certificate in Gerontology in 1999. Since then she had held positions with Atlanta Regional Commission, Georgia Council on Aging, and Senior Citizen Services. Currently she is a private consultant in gerontology. Waymon is a founding partner of Khafra, an award-winning engineering, environmental, architectural, and planning services firm headquartered in Atlanta.
The Gerontology Institute is grateful for the Jones' generosity and commitment to gerontology education.
