The Gerontology Institute hosted its 3rd annual senior (50+) health fair in partnership with North Fulton Regional Hospital at the GSU Alpharetta Campus on Old Milton Parkway. The event was held Friday, February 11, 2005, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Over 300 seniors received free health screens and many won door prizes provided by North Fulton Regional Hospital and the Gerontology Institute. Seniors were able to consult with a licensed pharmacist, a medical doctor and other health care professionals during the day-long event.
Four lectures given by doctors and professionals on subjects including; Alzheimer's Prevention, Healthy Eating after 50, Heart and Spine Procedures, and Sleep Apnea were well attended.
Free exhibits, take-home information and give-aways were available for all who attended. Hip and knee replacement, bariatrics, women's services, osteoporosis, pain control, diatetes, infection control, stroke, and volunteer opportunites for seniors to participate in the GSU Grand Panther's research pool were among the most popular.
This community service partnership between North Fulton Regional Hospital and the Gerontology Institute continues to provide seniors with important medical updates and timely information. Plans are already being made for next year's health fair at the GSU Alpharetta campus.
