The Barbara Payne Lecture in Gerontology, Aging in Place: Obstacles, Options, and Opportunities, presented by Dr. Jon Pynoos was held on Monday, September 27, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Renaissance Atlanta Hotel, 590 West Peachtree Street, NW. This year's event was a luncheon lecture held in conjunction with Georgia Gerontology Society's Annual Conference.
Dr. Jon Pynoos, a recognized national and international expert on housing and aging in place, is from the Andrus Gerontology Center of the University of Southern California where he is the UPS Foundation Professor of Gerontology, Policy, Planning, and Development and Director of the National Resource Center on Supportive Housing and Home Modification. As a former AAA director, he brings a broad perspective and unique insight to his work.
The Barbara Pittard Payne Lectureship in Gerontology was established in honor of Dr. Barabara Payne-Stancil (1919 - 2001), former founder and director of the Gerontology Institute at Georgia State University. Inaugurated in 1993, the lectureship each year brings to the Georgia State University campus a distinguished individual from the field of gerontology. The lectureship is funded through the generous contributions of faculty, students, alumni, and friends of Georgia State University
