Gifts from our alumni & friends, whether individuals or organizations,
are critical to meeting the needs of our students and faculty at
the University.
Approximately 30% of the funds needed to support the University
come from the state. Private giving together with state allocations,
tuition revenue and endowment income, make up the majority of the
University's current operating budget.
Annual Giving
Private support through annual gifts represents the primary factor
in establishing a strong alumni participation rate
that is often used to leverage additional support from organizations
and plays a role in certain rankings.
Leadership donors within Annual Giving are members of the President's
Society.
Employees of the university are some of the most loyal supporters
of Georgia State University. Our annual campaign is one of the most
successful in the nation.
Graduating students participate through the Class Gift Campaign.
This effort engages graduating students in supporting the university
as they prepare to become alumni. A tradition of giving back is
established as part of their legacy.
Telephone Outreach
Current Georgia State University students work with the Office
of Annual Giving through the Telephone Outreach program to contact
alumni and friends of the University. Calls are made year round
in an effort to contact all of the alumni and others personally.
The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) initiates
and coordinates interactions with corporations and foundations on
behalf of the entire university, engaging in relationships that
support Georgia State University’s teaching and research goals.
Major Giving
For individuals interested in supporting the institution with a
major gift, opportunities to establish scholarships, professorships,
or endowment funds exist.
If you would like to establish such a fund within a particular
college or area of the University, please contact the Director of
Development for that area. If you would like to establish a university-wide
fund, please contact the Vice-President of Development. To access
this information, contact us now.
Alumni and friends can consider including the University in their
estate plan so that they can leave a legacy of
continued support. This can be done through the use of a trust,
bequest, life insurance policy, qualified retirement plan or IRA.
Not only does estate planning benefit those that you care about,
but it can be possible to take advantage of gift planning strategies
that increase income, reduce taxes, and see your gift at work.
If you are interested in including Georgia State University in
your plan, it would be a good idea to meet with your attorney or
financial advisor to discuss in detail how this can be done. The
Development staff at Georgia State would be happy to discuss with
you how your estate planning can help realize your desire to support
the University while also benefiting you and your loved ones. For
more information, please contact Christine
Eckoff , Director of Planned Giving at (404) 413-3425.
Matching Gifts
If you have made a gift to Georgia State and you or your spouse
work for a matching gift company, please consider participating
in this program. To do so, pick up a matching gift form from your
company's Human Resources department and send it in with your gift.
This is a great way to multiply the impact of your gift
on the University and its students.

your company has a gift matching program!
The University Stewardship & Events unit has a dual mission:
to establish and nurture positive relationships with university
supporters, and to create distinctive events to advance the university’s
relationship with all external audiences.
