Making a Gift
A gift to the College of Education directly benefits our
students and faculty by providing the critical margin that
allows our faculty and students to maximize their potential
beyond state allocations. We are grateful for every gift
provided by our donors whether it is given for a specific
purpose such as scholarships, faculty development; for a
specific program; or as an unrestricted gift, allowing the
Dean to allocate these funds for the greatest need the
College has today.
We greatly appreciate every gift made to the college, no
matter what size. To learn more about the college, its
funding priorities and how you can make a gift, please visit
the
College of Education on the Web, or contact the
development office directly for more information.
Key Funding Priorities
Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence
The Center for Urban Educational Excellence is housed in
the Department of Middle-Secondary Education and
Instructional Technology. The Center works in partnership
with other universities, school systems, parents, students,
social agencies, and community organizations to create and
sustain excellence in urban educational environments. The
Center for Urban Educational Excellence is committed to
researching, developing, implementing, and assessing means
to promote excellence in urban educational settings to
optimize the life chances of all children and their
families.
Center for Research on School Safety, School Climate and
Classroom Management
The Center for School Safety, School Climate and
Classroom Management believes a safe, comfortable and
positive environment will raise the learning potential of
students. A fairly new initiative in the College of
Education, the Center provides a structure through which
schools and community agencies can learn to anticipate
behavioral/ violence problems, train educators in classroom
and school management and build a curriculum that prepares
new educators who are knowledgeable and skilled to deal with
such problems.
Center for the Study of Lifelong Literacy
The Center for Lifelong Literacy focuses its efforts in
literacy across the ages with an emphasis in literacy,
reading and mathematics, as well as English as a Second
Language. The venture is a cooperative effort that involves
individual schools, school districts, and the College of
Education. The Center provides professional development and
systemic support for teachers who are helping students learn
effective literacy skills and use literacy as a tool for
learning.
