Frequently Asked
Questions
1.
Why should I make a gift to Georgia State University?
Georgia State University has grown
with its student body, the expansion of its campus, its
commitment to excellence, and the needs of its community for
highly educated graduates in the workforce. Gifts to the
University allow it to grow in ways that other funding
cannot accomplish. Private gifts allow for programs that
government funding doesn't, or can't, support. Scholarships,
special acquisitions, equipment purchases, and the creation
of endowments to attract and keep top faculty are just a few
of the ways private gifts enhance the quality of a Georgia
State education.
2.
What is one of Georgia State University's highest funding
priorities?
The Georgia State University Fund -
This fund is the backbone of the University as it provides
support to all areas of the University. It is a funding
source used by Georgia State to help fund top University
priorities, special projects, and immediate and critical
academic needs (such as scholarships for students, lab
equipment for classrooms and assisting with faculty
research) that are not always met by other funding.
3.
Can my gift be designated to my college?
Yes. You can choose to support the University overall
through the Georgia State University Fund, or you can choose
to support a particular area or college by designating that
on the form you submit with your gift.
4.
How will my gift be used?
Your gift is used for the University's most pressing needs
or you may choose to designate how it is to be used.
Significant needs include financial support for students,
laboratory equipment, library books, and special programs.
Our goal is to use your gift to enhance the student
experience at Georgia State University. Your support
directly assists current Georgia State students.
