Georgia Science Olympiad: Team Funding Opportunities

This section is intended to provide guidance as to where GaSO teams might seek supplies or funding in support of their activities. It is sparse now but we hope to expand it in the future. If teams share such information with us then we will share it with all teams.

1. The Atlanta Geological Society and the Georgia Mineral Society have a minigrant program to purchase supplies and materials in support of earth science. The minigrants are currently limited to metro Atlanta but may soon be expanded to state-wide. For additional information, visit their web page at http://www.gamineral.org/minigrant.htm

2. The GaSO seeks schools to conduct training workshops for novice coaches. Experienced (and successful) coaches will organize and run full day Saturday workshops at their schools. Their school S.O. team will receive a grant to support their S.O. activities.

3. Check to see if team parents work for employers that:
(a) provide funding if the parent volunteers time to the school/team
(b) matches funds the parent contributes to the school/team

4. Local utility companies are often receptive to requests in support of science education activities.
