Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies

Thank you for your interest in the Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies. I am Dr. Reid-Vazquez, the new coordinator for the program. Below are additional details regarding admission deadlines and the program requirements.

The minimum requirements for the Certificate are 15 graduate-level hours (approximately five courses, depending on the course credit hours) in courses with a significant Latin American content and a grade of B or better on each course. These courses must be selected from at least three different academic departments and may include, but are not necessarily limited to the classes listed at the LAS Graduate Certificate Courses link to the right. Upon the completion of coursework, students will take a written exam.

In addition to completing the general application at the main Graduate Admissions site -, the Latin American Studies Certificate application requirements are to submit two letters of recommendation, a Goal Statement and your transcripts. The upcoming deadlines are as follows: April 1 for the Summer Semester, April 15 for the Fall Semester, and November 15 for the Spring Semester.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
