Henry T. Malone Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a meritorious history major with an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.  This scholarship was created by Ms. Alice Young to honor the memory of her husband Dr. Henry Malone.  Dr. Malone was a history professor and administrator at Georgia State University.  The Henry Malone Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $500.

Application Information

Applicants should submit a statement of approximately 500 words, answering the question, “What do you think is the importance of historians’ work and how do you see yourself making a contribution to it?” Preference is given to students with research interests in colonial America, nineteenth-century United States, Native American, or Georgia history. A cover page to the application should include the applicant’s name, GSU Panther ID number, and an e-mail address.  Either on the cover page or in the personal statement, the applicant should include the names of one or two instructors in history who are familiar with her or his work.

Applications and personal statements should be submitted to Dr. Mohammed Hassen Ali, Chair of the Undergraduate Awards and Prizes subcommittee.  Submissions can be made in person (34 Peachtree, Suite 2050) or via e-mail (mali@gsu.edu).
