Robert W. Sellen Scholarship

Awarded to a qualified freshman, sophomore or rising junior with a declared major in history and with an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.  The scholarship is in the amount of $500, renewable for a second year.  Awarded for the first time in spring 1999, this scholarship was established to honor the late Professor Robert Sellen, who inspired a generation of students with enthusiasm for the study of history.

Application Information

Applicants should submit a statement of approximately 500 words, explaining their interest in history or why they have chosen to major in history. A cover page to the application should include the applicant’s name, GSU Panther ID number, and an e-mail address.  Either on the cover page or in the personal statement, the applicant should include the names of one or two instructors in history who are familiar with her or his work.

Applications and personal statements should be submitted to Dr. Mohammed Hassen Ali, Chair of the Undergraduate Awards and Prizes subcommittee.  Submissions can be made in person (34 Peachtree, Suite 2050) or via e-mail (mali@gsu.edu).
