In today's age of sports where elite athletes take their bodies through regress workouts and strict dieting to gain an edge on the competition feel as though that might not be enough. Many athletes have decided to take their over the edge. Steroids has become a way for athletes of lesser talent to compete with the superstars and for superstars to compete with the history books. In 2004 steroids became a major topic in the sports world when Jose Canseco wrote a tell tell book about his use of steroids and many other famous MLB stars. This set the stage for many well known superstars to have defend their stats and character.
You will be a family organization such as MADD (mother against drunk driving) and you have called hearing with Major League Baseball to discuss steroids scandal. You want the league to take strict action to solve the problem because you think that this might effect children who inspire to become big leaguers or just want to be like their heroes.
In the task each group will be assigned to represent a side in the hearing. The 4 groups will assign someone to speak for them and bring out facts. The groups will be responsible for gathering info. for their particular group to be presented in the hearing.
*Baseball players= gather info. , come up with ideas on how they plan to stop children from using steroids
*Parents = gather info about steroid abuse among teens and children
*Owners = what they are planning to do about steroid use in MLB
*Doctors= provide medical info on how steroids work and dangers involved with using.
Each of these groups will be responsible for having facts ready to show in debate. Each group will need to have visuals to present in the debate. Groups are allowed to disagree or agree on topics discusses. The owners and players must explain what action they are taking to stop steroid use in their league and prevent children from using steriods.
At the beginning of the debate each group will began with an open statement and announce their view on the steroids issue .A mediator will be assigned (teacher) who will present topics of discussion and control debate. Each group will have an opportunity to respond to topic. At the end of the debate all the groups will have to come together and form a solution how to stop or prevent the use of steroids by children. The research can be done through a variety of ways internet, books, magazines and newspapers.

After this students should ask themselves did I learn anything about steroids and there effects on people, not only the athletes who use them but the ones who look up to the athletes? Students should also ask if the benefits are worth the consequences?
