Important Information

  • Medical plan only – The effective date for your medical plan can be one of three options:

August 1, 2008 – requires that we receive your application by July 31, 2008
    August 11, 2008 – official hire date
September 1, 2008 – 1st of the following month from your hire date

  • All other benefit plans will be effective September 1, 2008.
  • Retirement plan – As an exempt employee, you have the option of choosing either a defined benefit plan or a defined contribution plan.  The options and definitions of each will be discussed at orientation.  Your irrevocable election must be submitted within 60 days of your hire date.  If an election is not made within this time period, you will be defaulted into the defined benefit plan.

Note:  To be considered "benefits-eligible", you must be hired in a regular position, at least half time, for a continuous period of more than one semester.  If you are only hired for one semester, you are not eligible for benefits.  If you enroll in benefits and are not eligible, you may be required to reimburse the University for its portion of the cost incurred.
