Network Operations Center Supervisor, Operations Services, University Computing and Communications Systems: IS & T, (Job #5287)
Paygrade: 18, Minimum Hiring Rate; $44,324

This is an opportunity for a qualified individual to work and gain experience in an ever-growing, technologically advanced Institution of Higher Education.

This supervisory position is dedicated to the university’s Network Operations Center. Oversees network problem resolution activities in the multi-platform environment and ensures that all outage procedures are relevant and correctly assigned. Ensures that assigned personnel are monitoring network status in accordance with UCCS and University procedures. Anticipates emergent situations and assists personnel in ensuring essential/critical procedures.

Must have: A+ and Network + certifications as well as certification in one of the following major operating systems is required: Microsoft MCP, Novell CNA, CISCO CCNA, or UNIX Admin. Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years in computer center operations or network operations center comprised of multi-platform and operating systems; Or a combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of network equipment and distribution media; Familiarity with network monitoring tools;

Prefrences: Continually demonstrate working knowledge of supported systems architectures in order to understand the impacts of environmental outages, training required to support those systems and relative criticality of the functions they support. As a minimum, demonstrate proficiency in UNIX Window; Novell and Windows Server commands and procedures; configuration of wireless devices VPN clients, firewalls and anti-virus applications; Identification of network components, network protocols. TCP/IP, SMTP, VPN and PPTP; Operation of hardware and software utilized in production digital printing; Use of tools and industry standards for termination and testing of Ethernet and fiber optic cabling.
