Admissions Counselor I, Office of Admissions, (Job# 5291)
Paygrade- 10, Minimum Hiring Rate: $24,992

The Admissions Counselor I has the primary responsibility of advising and counseling prospective students, and other interested parties regarding admission policies and procedures and general information about Georgia State. The ACI also represents Georgia State at various on-campus visitation programs. The ACI will participate in recruitment functions and programs as a member of the recruitment team; conduct admissions presentations to prospective students and their parents; serve as the primary contact for students visiting the office; assist with admission application processing and decision-making; coordinate various admission-related programs and activities; and serve as a resource specialist for the communication of complex and sensitive information with respect to application, residency determination, and admission to the University. The ACI will also participate in recruitment functions and programs as a member of the recruitment team and represent Georgia State at various on-campus visitation programs provided to special groups that visit the campus. The ACI may also represent Georgia State at various recruitment functions off campus such as college fairs and high school visits. The ACI is primarily stationed in the reception area as one member of the front lobby team.
Must have: Bachelor's degree; or a combination of training and experience.
Preferences: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; thorough knowledge of, familiarity with, and experience in admissions, recruitment, marketing, and outreach; thorough knowledge of and experience in applying and interpreting policies; ability to effectively work with diverse constituencies and in a large, fast-paced professional work environment; ability to present clear and accurate information to small and large groups of various populations; ability to fully participate in and contribute to the accomplishments of Office mission and goals; knowledge of and experience with computer systems, programs, and applications – Experience in using SCT Banner and Recruitment Plus software strongly desired; ability to travel (sometimes driving long distances requiring overnight stays), and work some weekends and/or evenings as necessary. Due to the nature of this position, weekend, evening, and travel hours are not uncommon beyond the normal 40-hour work week.
