Director of Development, (Job# 5324)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $75,000

This position will be shared between the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies and Central Major Gifts and will report to both the College Dean and the Associate Vice President for Central Development. Primary responsibilities; 1) develops, implements and manages a comprehensive fund raising program soliciting contributions primarily from individuals; 2) prepares an annual operating plan that sets out the strategic direction for the fundraising program for the year; 3) identifies major donor prospects, segments the prospect pool and strategically directs efforts toward successful fundraising initiatives; 4) develops and executes long and short-term strategies to craft effective cultivation plans for donor prospects; 5) engages in event planning when it is related to “friend-raising” activity that can lead to prospect development with assistance from Dean’s Office staff; 6) converses and interacts comfortable with academic leadership and the university’s wealthiest donors; makes cold calls, overcomes objections and handles rejection appropriately; and 7) travels to meet with donors.

Must have: Bachelor's degree and 5 years supervisory/management experience; or a combination of training and experience.

Preferences: Masters Degree and demonstrated success in fundraising; Major gift solicitation and prospect identification; Effective written and oral communications; Effective interpersonal skills.
