Answering the emergency and non-emergency phones and radios in the police communications center; dispatching police officers via police radios as the report or complaint indicates; monitors multiple phone lines, radio frequencies and alarm system simultaneously. Maintains various logs and forms of all calls, reports, or complaint according to standard police procedures; dispatching appropriate personnel for reports of incidents or complaints; receiving incoming telephone calls from callers seeking general information about school closures, department hours, etc.

Must have: High school diploma or GED, no felony convictions. Must be able to pass thorough background investigation and take a pre-employment drug screen. Prefer six months dispatcher experience. Prefer community service experience.

Preferences: Ability to deal professionally and courteously with the public and police personnel on the phone and police two-way radio. Knowledge of police dispatch procedures and functions of a police department and stable job history. Should be willing to work assigned. May be required to work weekends and holidays. Twenty four hours, seven days a week operation.
