Position in Cell/Cancer Biology
The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in cell/cancer biology. We seek an outstanding scientist whose research program complements existing strengths in signal transduction, cell growth and motility, transcriptional regulation, ion channel structure/function and/or membrane transport. The interests of current faculty in the Ph.D. programs in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Physiology or in the closely interacting Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry can be found at http://biology.gsu.edu. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose research focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms of tumor progression, and/or who have strong interests in developing cancer diagnostics and/or therapies or other types of translational research. The Department has excellent research core facilities and is developing strong basic and translational research programs in disease-related areas through collaborative research and interactions with the Georgia Research Alliance and the Georgia Cancer Coalition. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are expected to demonstrate potential for establishing an independent, externally funded research program, while applicants at more senior levels should provide evidence of an established, externally funded research program. The successful applicant will be expected to direct graduate student research, and instruct upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in cell biology.
