use only one application for multiple submissions
-
attach resumes, cover letters or other documents for consideration
Internally, the GSU PPRTS gives the Georgia State University hiring managers the ability to :

submit their staff/classified employee position vacancy requests electronically
-
access the qualified applicant pool at anytime via the internet
-
expedite their selection process
For any applicant that may need assistance with GSU PPRTS, he/she can visit the Staff Recruitment and Retention Office, located on the 3rd floor of One Park Place, during the hours of 8:30 am-5:15 pm.

Is The Job Still Open?
All jobs that are currently posted are open.
Definition of Applicant
In compliance with the Office of Federal Contractor's Compliance Programs (OFCCP) October 7, 2005 ruling, Georgia State University has adopted the following definition of an applicant:
- An individual must submit an expression of interest for a specific job.
- The individual possesses the basic qualifications for the position (including materials requested).
- And the individual at no point during the selection process prior to receiving an offer of employment from the contractor (employer) removes himself or herself from further consideration or otherwise indicates that s/he is no longer interested in the position.
Unsolicited Application Materials
Only materials that identify a specific, currently vacant position by
job number will be accepted as "applications". Unsolicited resumes,
or materials requesting general consideration for any position, will not
be considered to be applications or retained. Applications previously
submitted are not automatically matched with new vacant positions. Applicants
must request consideration for each vacant position.
Application Materials
After completely filling out an application form, applicants may apply for as many positions as they choose, keeping in mind that only those who have met the minimum requirements will be considered for a position. When applying for a specific position, applicants must attach all of the required documents. In most cases, the hiring manager will request that applicants attach a resume and cover letter; however, certain positions require additional attachments. For example, some may request that applicants attach writing samples, transcripts, recommendation letters, or any other document the hiring manager requests. Applicants must attach ALL of the required documents in order to be considered for a position. Applications that do not have all the required materials attached are incomplete, and will not be processed. Information on the required documents for a position is located under the “Special Instructions to Applicants” section of the “Position Information” page.
If an applicant does not have all of the required documents when applying for a position, simply select the “Attach Additional Documents Later” button. This feature will allow applicants to return to the website at a later time and complete the attachment process. Please keep in mind that if an applicant chooses the “Attach Additional Documents Later” feature, the application will be incomplete and will remain so until all of the required documents are attached. If applicants choose to complete the attachment process at a later time, please pay special attention to the position closing date. Applicants will not be allowed to complete the attachment process if the position is closed. Remember, the Office of Staff Recruitment & Retention does not process incomplete applications.

Will I Hear From the Department?
If you want to know if the position has been closed or filled yet, watch
the daily job posting. As long as the position is still listed, that means
the position has not been filled. Once a department "closes"
a position, it means they are no longer accepting more applications, and
the listing is removed from the job posting. It may be some time between
the time a department closes the position and when they fill the position.
All jobs must be posted for at least 5 working days before any offer can
be made. But for many positions in universities, there can be long lag
times (sometimes up to 6 months or more), between the time a job is posted
and the time it is filled. If it's still on the posting, it's still an
active vacancy.
If a hiring department
wishes to interview you for a position, they will contact you directly.
Most hiring managers prefer that applicants not contact them directly
regarding the status of their consideration.
If you are interviewed
but not selected for the position, many hiring departments will send finalist
candidates a letter of regret, but this is a courtesy rather than a requirement.
Employment Eligibility
By federal law, if you are offered a position, you must present original
documentation that establishes your identity and your eligibility to work
in the United States. Failure to present acceptable documents within 3
days means you may not be employed. For a list of acceptable documents,
ask the Employment Office front desk.
Criminal Convictions
By Board of Regents policy, convicted felons may not be employed by any
unit of the University System of Georgia. Conviction of any criminal drug
offense (even a misdemeanor) disqualifies a candidate for at least 2 years
(1st offense) or at least 5 years (2nd offense).
Former Employees
Former employees who have been discharged, or who resigned in lieu of
discharge, for reasons of misconduct, are not eligible for rehire at Georgia
State University.
Background/Credit Checks
A position description marked with one asterisk (*) indicates that either
a credit check or a criminal background investigation is required and
will be conducted on the finalist candidate(s). Positions marked with
two asterisks (**) require both a criminal background investigation and
a credit check. Even if not required for a specific position, the University
reserves the right to check criminal and other background information
on all finalist applicants at its sole discretion. Checks may require
up to two weeks to complete.
No Smoking
To protect the health of the University community, smoking is prohibited
in all campus buildings.
Campus Crime Statistics
In compliance with state & federal law, the University's annual security
report, describing campus safety programs, policies, and crime statistics,
is available upon request from University Police, 404-651-2100 or from
their website at http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwupo/safetynet.html.
Salary Information
Hiring salary offers will not be lower than the posted minimum rate for
the position. Actual salary offers depend upon the skill and experience
of the finalist candidate, as well as upon the resources available to
the hiring department. Generally speaking, individuals who just meet the
minimum hiring standards (MHSs) for the position are hired at or near
the minimum rates. Individuals with considerable skills and experience
beyond the MHSs may be hired at higher-than-minimum rates, up to the full
market value for the position, if departmental resources and internal
equity considerations permit. Offers beyond the full market value may
be considered in exceptional circumstances with the concurrence of Human
Resources and Affirmative Action. More salary information is available
at the Classification and Compensation
website.
Direct Deposit of Pay
All employees of Georgia State University receive their pay by automatic
transfer to a bank account. Accounts can be set up through the University.
