Flying into Atlanta

As the transportation hub for the region, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the busiest passenger airport in the world, averaging 2,400 flights each day and virtually guaranteeing that conference attendees can schedule a flight in and out of the city that best suits their needs.

Once in Atlanta, visitors can either arrange rental transportation, a taxi, or utilize MARTA rail transportation to the Georgia State University campus or other locations downtown. MARTA leaves directly from the Airport and travels to GSU (Five Points Station) or to the conference hotel (Peachtree Center Station).

Because the frequency of trains changes after the evening commute hours, if you plan to arrive in the evening, it is recommended that you take a taxi from the airport

MARTA serves most of the metro Atlanta area with convenient, economical rail and bus service. Many attractions are located within walking distance of a MARTA rail station. For more information about MARTA routes and fares, please visit their website at

Getting to the conference hotel (Residence Inn) from ATL Airport via MARTA

From inside the airport’s MARTA station, take the North Line train and get off at the 8th stop (Peachtree Center). This is a very large station, so be sure to take the escalator toward the Ellis Street sign. The hotel is located directly across from the Peachtree Center Station. View the MARTA rail system map.

Getting to Campus Housing from MARTA

If traveling from the airport to campus on MARTA, please be advised that there is not a MARTA stop directly located at the campus housing.

From Five Points Station, exit on Peachtree Street. Turn left and walk downhill to the intersection of Decatur Street and Peachtree Street. Turn right on Decatur and walk two blocks to the intersection of Decatur and Central Avenue/Peachtree Center Avenue. There is a PantherExpress bus stop in front of the General Classroom Building that will take you to the Commons.

From Peachtree Center Station, cross Peachtree Street and turn left onto John Wesley Dobbs Avenue and walk three blocks to the intersection of JW Dobbs and Piedmont Avenue. Enter the University Commons from Piedmont Avenue, next to the Georgia State University Police Station.
