VISUAL IDENTITY POLICIES

The following policies are intended to provide guidelines for and manage the use of the Georgia State University identity program. This program consists of the 1) university logo (logotype plus flame graphic); 2) the university seal; 3) flame graphic (alone); 4) the university mascot Pounce; and 5) the colors and typography as they pertain to business cards, stationery, Web sites and other university publications:

1. The official Georgia State colors are blue (PMS 286) and white. Accents are gray (PMS 404) and red (PMS 186).

2. All internal design and production using the Georgia State University logo, flame graphic and seal must be approved by the Department of University Relations.

3. External use of the approved university logo, flame graphic and/or seal for commercial use will be negotiated and managed by the Department of Auxiliary Services.

4. All Georgia State publications will display an approved university logo.

5. All Georgia State Web sites will display an approved university logo.

6. When using the words Georgia State University as a “stand-alone” (not accompanied by the flame graphic), State must be underlined in red, black or reversed out of a solid color.

7. All Georgia State University business cards, stationery and envelopes must be designed and typeset by the Department of University Relations and must adhere to the accepted and approved layout choices designated by the department. This is to ensure that the branded image of Georgia State University will be presented in a consistent manner.

8. Once designed and typeset by the Department of University Relations, all business cards, stationery and envelopes must by duplicated and printed by Graphcom, Georgia State’s official print shop.

9. The university mascot Pounce is available for reproduction use in the form of five approved images that can be used independently or in conjunction with approved type treatments.

10. Pounce is a trademarked and copyrighted image and must be displayed in its official colors of blue (PMS 286), red (PMS 186) or 100 percent black.

11. Internal and external use of designated Pounce images must be approved by the Department of University Relations. Any design variations of designated Pounce images must be approved by the Department of University Relations.

12. External commercial use (items for resale) of the approved Pounce image(s) will be negotiated and managed by the Department of Auxiliary Services.

13. Use of the approved Georgia State seal will be limited to official material such as diplomas, diploma frames, class rings, certificates, invitations to official university functions and ceremonial banners and flags. All use will be approved by the Department of University Relations.

14. The university logo, flame graphic or Pounce will never be reproduced in red.
