Getting to Campus

There are many different ways to get to the Georgia State University campus. It is important that you plan ahead whether you will drive or take public transportation. The Georgia State University website provides information about parking & the shuttle from the parking lots, taking MARTA, walking, etc. There is also important information about student discounts for MARTA and parking. Check out the Parking & Transportation page on the GSU website.

In addition, if you need information on how to get a driver’s license, please refer to the IEP Student Handbook for more information.

Please see the Ground Transportation Overview for information on getting to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

NEW STUDENTS ARRIVING IN ATLANTA

It is strongly recommended that you arrange transportation from the Atlanta airport to your place of lodging prior to your arrival. For those of you who will be arriving in Atlanta from overseas or another part of the US without someone to pick you up at the airport, below are two possible options:

  • Contact one of the international student groups that are a part of ISAC (International Student Associations Council). These groups exist to promote the culture and serve the needs of the many international students on campus. Several of them provide airport pickup as well as housing assistance for new students from their part of the world. The list of groups can be found here.
  • An Atlanta community organization called Georgia Culture Connection has volunteers has offered to organize free airport pickup service for any Georgia State international student who may need it. To contact them, you can send an email to Laura Brown (laura@gacultureconnection.com) and provide the following information: name, date of flight, city where flight is coming from, time of arrival, airline/flight number, address where to take you, what country you are originally from.  Also include your gender (male/female) since the names might be new to some volunteers. Please make sure you know the address where you are staying. They are offering transportation ONLY and are NOT responsible for helping you find a place to stay.
