Production Control

Production Control is responsible for maintaining a high level of consistent, quality service for our administration application systems, such as PeopleSoft, SCT Banner, OASIS, and Payroll/Personnel (PPS). The services we specifically provide for these systems are:

• Ensure that batch jobs related to these systems run on time and complete with no errors. If an error does occur, we can call on the expertise within all of the IS&T units to address the problem, and, then, re-run the job so that it completes successfully. Examples of critical batch jobs include the financial aid evaluations, credit card transfers, and ORATOR.
• Enforce testing standards for application changes. Before a changed function is accepted, the programmer must provide "before and after" documentation that demonstrates the purpose of the modification and the successful operation of the change.
• Copy the newly changed and tested functions from a test system into the production or "live" system. This process is referred to as a "migration"
