We are also active in science education. In concert with the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience generally and Dr. Laura Carruth of GSU specifically, we implement several education programs throughout the year. Overall we aim to reinforce science education in Atlanta area schools by bringing kindergarten through 12th grade students and their teachers into laboratories, zoos, and science museums for hands-on experience with scientific experiments and exhibits. Undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows participate both as teachers and learners in all of these programs. We also hope to aid in community development by increasing science awareness in the Atlanta general public. Finally, our educational programs are research projects. We are investigating the effectiveness of our programs and how best to teach neuroscience to students of various ages and stages. Education Programs
