The Royal Flame Awards Ceremony
The Royal Flame Awards is the annual recognition ceremony sponsored by Student Activities that honors the many contributions of students and campus organizations to the university. A variety of awards are presented during the ceremony that acknowledge student organizations, outstanding student leaders, student programming, and organization advisors, among others. Any student, faculty /staff member, or student organization at Georgia State University can be nominated, and all staff and students may submit nominations for the awards. Save the date for this year’s Royal Flame Awards ceremony on April 19, 2010!
Academic & Co-curricular Excellence (A.C.E.) Award
Since 1977, the Division of Student Affairs has sponsored the recognition of an outstanding undergraduate student for significant contributions to the university community. A.C.E. Award Winners are presented with an award and $500 stipend during the Royal Flame Awards Ceremony. Interested students must apply separately for this award.
The criteria for nomination are as follows:
- Undergraduate senior status
- Strong academic record
- High level of integrity and honesty
- Demonstrated leadership in student life
- Consistent and genuine support of others
Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award
Presented during the University Commencement in May, this award recognizes commitment to student involvement, and it is the highest student leadership award presented by the university. Recipients must represent the highest ideals of leadership and meet the following criteria:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
- Undergraduate senior status
- Demonstration of significant involvement in university activities
- Participation in specific-interest clubs or organizations
- Involvement in service organizations or initiatives
