The department has several projects aimed at helping students better understand its programs and curricula. All of these should help improve retention and graduation rates. There is no one problem affecting all students so a varied approach as described below is necessary. The web site provides course descriptions, program descriptions, faculty pages, and links to related sites. Many faculty members are providing instructional material over the web as a supplement to text and lecture material. The charge of the departmental supplemental instruction committee has been broadened and the committee is designated as the Improvement of Instruction Committee.
