Welcome from the Coordinator

Thank you for your interest in the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Minor in Latin American Studies. I am Dr. Monica Diaz, the new coordinator for the program. The undergraduate minor in Latin American Studies is intended for students who wish to gain a familiarity with Latin American history and culture in order to enrich a major in one of the academic departments of Georgia State University.

The specific requirements for an interdisciplinary minor in Latin American Studies are as follows:

• The minor course work must consist of 15 hours of classes with significant Latin American content with a GPA of 3.0.
• These courses must be selected from at least three different departments and may not be from the major department. A general list of courses applicable to the minor are found at the Interdisciplinary Minor in Latin American Studies course link to the right.
• Completion of credit for a Spanish or Portuguese language course sequence of at least four semesters or certification to a similar level by means of an examination administered by the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.
