1. Identify “areas of influence” that are likely and desirable areas for future growth and acquire underdeveloped sites in these areas as possible.
- • The Master Plan Update identifies a new “area of influence” bounded on the east by I-75/85, on the north by Ellis Street, on the west by Fairlie Street and on the south by MARTA and other rail lines.
- • The Master Plan update also defines four sectors within the “area of influence,” each with different expansion potential for the university. Sector A, the northeast sector, holds the most likely potential for the university’s growth because of its under-developed character and offers potential for more distinctly connecting the new Piedmont Ellis housing complex to the campus core. All sectors provide development opportunities to integrate more fully the university and the City of Atlanta, a key goal of the Strategic Plan.
