As part of an ongoing effort to streamline and simplify the purchasing process at GSU, the University has joined with the State of Georgia in adopting a Purchase Card as one method for making purchases. The card, called a P'Card, is a VISA brand debit card that works like a credit card. For most purchases of non-equipment items totaling less than $5,000.00, the "P" Card is the quickest and easiest method to obtain those materials you need to operate your department. Purchasing administers the laws and regulations related to the acquisition of goods and services for the University. The department's authority comes from the Department of Administrative Services, the Georgia Technology Authority and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. In addition to following internal guidelines and policies, Purchasing is charged with the proper execution of the laws of the State of Georgia, as well as the policies and procedures promulgated by the D.O.A.S, the G.T.A. and the Board of Regents. Receiving is the official point of receipt for all goods and services acquired for University departments by Purchasing. Property Control is responsible for the proper entry into Inventory of decal information on items received through Receiving, as well as the disposal of Surplus Property.
