Jessica Berry received her PhD from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. She works on late 18th to early 20th century German philosophy (especially issues in epistemology and value theory in the work of Marx and Nietzsche) and in ancient Greek philosophy (especially the pre-Socratics and Hellenistic philosophers). She has taught courses on Marx, Nietzsche and Freud, Kant, Heidegger, and Aristotle, and on the philosophy of art. With support from the National Endowment from the Humanities, she is currently writing a book entitled Nietzsche and the Ancient Skeptical Tradition, which brings together articles she has published in Philosophical Topics, The Journal of the History of Ideas, International Studies in Philosophy and elsewhere.
