**The Enrollment Management Committee (EMC) levels are set by the EMC. They cannot be less than the Senate minima.

This motion does not change any other admission requirements.

Rationale:

We have made dramatic strides in raising admission standards. In the Fall of 1997, for example, we required the equivalent of an FI of about 1800. However, to preserve budgets, it now makes sense to raise admission standards more slowly. The Senate floors of 2400 and 2.1 allow the EMC to fully utilize the flexibility offered by the Regents' limited admissions policy. In other words, these changes effectively set the Senate minima at the same level as BOR minima. As you can see, the EMC is, in many cases, already floating above those minima and the hope is to rise even further above them in the future.

The EMC has decided not to make a distinction between transfers with less than 30 hours and those with 30 or more hours. It makes sense, therefore, to simplify the Senate minimum admission requirements as indicated.
