Graduate Scholars

GSU's philosophy department has three main areas of strength: Legal and Political Philosophy, Neurophilosophy, and Kant and post-Kantian German Philosophy. We offer special financial incentives to attract outstanding students who wish to work in each of these areas.

Through GSU's broader Brains & Behaviors program, we offer two Neurophilosophy fellowships each year. We also designate one incoming student each year as a Graduate Scholar in Legal and Political Philosophy, and one as a Graduate Scholar in Kant and post-Kantian German Philosophy.

Graduate Scholars receive a combination of fellowship and assistantship support for two years, worth $15,000 each year. (The first two semesters of support are duty-free; thereafter, Graduate Scholars will be asked to teach Critical Thinking.) Students who wish to be considered for one of these positions should send along a writing sample that's in the appropriate area (Legal and Political Philosophy or Kant and post-Kantian German philosophy), and indicate their interest in the body of their writing sample e-mail.
