Approximately 2,500 students from 181 other schools and programs participated in the conference, including such schools as Boston College, Cambridge University, Case Western University and the United States Naval Academy. This is the largest Model UN simulation in the world.
The Georgia State University team representing Djibouti won the top award (Outstanding Delegation Award). This award is given to teams judged as being in the top 5% of teams participating.
The Georgia State University team representing Kuwait won the next highest award (Distinguished Delegation Award). This award is given to the teams judged as being in the next highest ranked 5% of participating teams.
This is a quite simply a superb achievement. This is the second year in a row that the Georgia State University Model UN team has won the Outstanding Delegation Award at the National Model UN. It was also the first year that two teams were fielded at the national conference.
