Institute for New Supervisors

The Institute for New Supervisors is a combination of training workshops and developmental activities aimed at assisting newly promoted front-line supervisors to accelerate their transition from high achieving counselor to highly effective manager.

Target Audience: Front-line supervisors in the state vocational rehabilitation agencies of Region IV (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) that have been promoted within the past two years.

The Institute is held regionally on an annual basis.

The Institute for New Supervisors is comprised of three one-week sessions. At least two of the sessions are held in Atlanta, Georgia. Participants attend highly interactive workshops throughout the week-long session developing effective supervisory skills and honing their leadership abilities. Between a sessions, participants have developmental activities to complete.

The Institute focuses on topics that increase skills in:

  • Managing work processes and outcomes
  • Managing work relationships
  • Managing the work environment
