About the Program

Whether you want to learn how to swim, get some exercise or just have fun, you will find something that meets your needs. All of the instructors are certified to teach swimming through the American Red Cross and are certified lifeguards through the American Red Cross. The first day of swimming lessons the swim instructor will assess each student to make sure you are in the appropriate class.

How to Register

Register for these classes at the Service Counter in the lobby of the Student Recreation Center! Guests and nonmembers are not allowed to register for swimming lessons. Only children of current Georgia State University students and members of the Student Recreation Center are allowed to register for swimming lessons. You must have your PantherCard to register. Cash, PantherCash and checks are accepted.

When to register

Registration for Session 1 begins Monday, August 17
Registration for Session 1 ends Tuesday, September 8


Session 1 Beginning/End Dates
August 24 - October 10
Saturday classes
August 29 - October 10
There will be no classes
September 7

Registration for Session 11 begins Monday, September 28.
Session 11 Registration ends, October 25.

Session 11 Beginning/End Dates
October 12 - December 4
Saturday classes: October 17 - November 21

There will be no classes November 24 - 29.

Class Cancellation
Swimming classes with fewer than four participants will be canceled.
This will be determined on September 9 for Session 1 and October 21 for Session 11.
Participants will be allowed to move to another class or receive a full refund.

Cost - Payment by cash, Panthercash or check only.

Cost for each 7week session:
GSU students and children of GSU students:
$20 per session.
Other members and children of other members:
$40 per session.

Cost for Adult Saturday class:
GSU students - $10
Other members - $20

Refunds: A full refund will be given if the participant cancels by Sunday, September 6 for Session I. For Session II, (Monday, October 18) No refunds will be give on or after September 8 for Session I and October 18 for Session II no refunds after October 19. No refunds without receipt.

How to Register

Sign up for these classes at the Service Counter in the lobby of the Student Recreation Center! Registration begins August 17. Registration will close seven days before the start date of the class.

Cost

Cost categories are divided as follows:
GSU student fee/other member fee.

*Class Cancellation

Health and Safety classes with fewer than four participants will be canceled on the date noted by the asterisk (*). Participants can still register after the cancellation date has passed if the class has not been canceled. If class is canceled, the participant will receive a full refund.

Refunds

A full refund will be given if the participant cancels prior to seven days
before the scheduled class. No refunds without receipt.

Register for trips at the Touch the Earth Outdoor Rental Center located on the lower level of the Student Recreation Center - the entrance is outside at the back of the building.

Refunds - SCUBA Classes

A full refund is given when the participant cancels prior to the start date of the class. No refund will be given on or after the start date or thereafter. No refunds without receipt.

Refunds - Trips

Deposits and any money paid toward the trip balance are not refundable after the deposit deadline. All payment deadlines must be met or your trip spot will be cancelled and your payments forfeited. No refunds without receipt.
